More About Miami at Oxford’s Warm Welcome of Beta Theta Pi and the 175th Convention

The convention was the 175th Beta Theta Pi Anniversary.

Betas were welcomed by the town.

Paint the Town Beta: Oxford was ready to host #Beta175 as 73 convention-themed banners were put up throughout the city!

#Beta175 kicked off with an alumni reception at Lewis Place, the home of Miami University President Dr. David Hodge and his wife, Valerie (a Beta Mom and Dad, in fact). Ironically, the home, bought from the estate of Beta alumnus Phillip North Moore, Miami 1870, was built in 1839 – thereby celebrating its 175th, too! Pink and blue hydrangeas (two of each) were gifts to the Fraternity by Dr. and Mrs. Hodge and will be planted at the Administrative Office to commemorate the Fraternity’s 175th. What a first-class way to welcome Beta home!

Brothers Hard at Work

All of Beta’s Board members (Fraternity, Foundation and Campaign Cabinet) and General Fraternity Officers started #Beta175 with morning meetings. Let’s hear it for these dedicated volunteers. We appreciate your service to the Fraternity!

Cultivation of the Intellect

#Beta175 attendees definitely learned something as Dr. P took the Brothers through proper Loving Cup etiquette. Steve Becker led a session on singing, and FOB Mike McRee pulled no punches in his discussion on what it means to be Greek. Thanks to all the presenters! What an afternoon!

Eight colonies were up for a charter/return to good standing and now, all eight are chapters of Beta Theta Pi! Congrats to:
  • Epsilon Chapter at Centre College
  • Eta Theta Chapter at Chapman University
  • Eta Eta Chapter at Texas Christian University (pictured)
  • Eta Lambda Chapter at the College of Charleston
  • Eta Iota Chapter at Creighton University
  • Alpha Zeta Chapter at the University of Denver
  • Gamma Psi Chapter at Michigan State University
  • Eta Kappa Chapter at the University of the Pacific
